Thành ngữ gợi lại việc một nơi sinh ra người quyền quý, còn nơi khác phải gánh việc nuôi nấng, hầu hạ; dùng để nói sự phân công hoặc số phận lệ thuộc, nơi hưởng vinh hiển, nơi chịu phần phục dịch. Cũng hàm ý nhắc đến những ràng buộc bất công do thân phận và quyền thế trong xã hội cũ.

This saying recalls a situation in which one place produces the noble offspring while another must do the work of nursing and serving; it is used to describe an unequal division of roles, where one side enjoys status and another bears the burden.
